5 Ways To Simplify Your Content Creation

If you’re looking to take the summer off or want to make content creation for the rest of the year feel a whole lot easier, you need to be using key marketing dates in your strategy!

They’re an easy but effective way to get more traffic on your social accounts, build your community and get creative with your posts!

But, as with everything on social media, you need to be strategic with how you use key marketing dates.

So here are my top 5 tips on how to do just that!

Tip 1: Have engagement at the forefront of your mind

One of the best ways to use key marketing dates are as an engagement prompt!

You can do this in several ways.

Firstly, you can post about a specific day and then search for others who are also talking about the same key date.

Reach out, leave a comment or even share their post if you like their take on it! Use it to build connections and mutual support with both peers and customers!

Another way you can increase your engagement is by giving your community the opportunity to actively engage with you.

For example, the 30th of September is National Podcast Day!

You could use this to promote your own podcast and encourage people to listen and leave a review or share a selection of Podcasts you love to listen to on your stories! Tag the creators and encourage your audience to leave any podcast suggestions!

Tip 2: Think outside the box

What’s really important when jumping on a key marketing date is making sure you don’t sound the same as everyone else posting about the same thing on that day…

So put your own twist on them and think outside of the box about how the day relates to your business!

For example, on the 30th of August, it’s National Beach Day.

If you’re an online service-based business, you could put your own spin on it and talk about how starting your own business has allowed you to travel to so many different beaches as you can work from anywhere- share your favourite beach destinations to work from!

If you're an e-commerce brand that specialises in beauty products, for example, you could share your favourite skincare products to protect your skin from the sun or make-up that gives you that beach look!

Tip 3: Keep it relevant!

Although jumping on key marketing dates can be a great way to increase your traffic, you don’t want to overdo it by posting about every national day there is!

Keep it relevant and specific.

Look at them as a way to provide your audience with the opportunity to get to know more about you as the person behind the brand.

For example, the 9th of August is International Co-Woking day. I might use this to talk about how co-working changed my online business experience and led to me co-founding the Marketing Beach Club with a friend I met online!

Tip 4: Use them as a marketing opportunity

If you want to really get strategic with key marketing dates, use a few of them as a marketing opportunity and create a mini-campaign to drive sales in your business!

For example, the 30th of July is International Friendship Day!

If you’re an online service provider, you could use this day to virtually get together with some of your online business friends and do a series of IG lives together!

If you’re an e-commerce business, you could use this day to offer a special discount to anyone who refers you to a friend, giving the friend 10% off their first purchase and the original customer 10% to say thank you for the referral!

Tip 5: Get ahead of the game

To make the most out of key marketing dates, you want to make sure you know what’s coming up so you can prepare content or campaigns in advance and be more selective about what dates apply to you.

The best way to do this is to download my Key Marketing Dates Freebie which lists every single key date for the rest of the year!
