How To Make More Money As A Social Media Manager - Expanding Your Skillset

When you first start your own business it's normal to have a certain vision in mind for how your business is going to grow and what services you're going to provide.

But the funny thing about running your own business is this can evolve and change over time and for most people, this is the reality they experience.

My journey as a marketer has been one of growth and evolution.

And it’s been the best thing I could’ve asked for…

The journey from Social Media Manager to Marketing Manager

Although I very much started out as a social manager who only offered social media management packages and I was happy with this, as my business grew and I met new people how I started serving customers gradually changed.

Because if you're doing things really well people are going to start seeing you as the expert and are likely to start asking you about other ways you can help them.

This doesn't mean you have to start offering a load of different services, but sometimes you'll find something that piques your interest and you may want to lean into that!

After all, that's the beauty of owning your own business- you can take it in whatever direction you want.

Slowly I started to uplevel my skill set, expand my team and offer a wider variety of services.

This slowly built my client base as my clients were getting bigger and better results as I was able to help them on a variety of different levels and that is what grew my business.

Should you specialise or generalise as a marketer?

I know this isn't always the same situation for everyone and not everyone wants to expand their services, however, in my experience, I’ve met a lot of people who have set up their own marketing businesses who have had the same experience.

There's no getting around it, marketing is a wide field and although you don't have to do everything, you don't have to put yourself in one box and stick to it for the rest of your career.

Even if you don't choose to specialise in any other type of service, simply having the knowledge in your wheelhouse of how different marketing systems work and can integrate, especially with social media, can be really valuable to your business.

Simply because it can help get your clients better results and develop your understanding of their marketing ecosystem so you can better serve them through the services you do decide to specialise in.

And then of course, you always have the option if someone does ask you to take on a task outside your standard services to take that on if you wish.

How to easily expand your marketing knowledge

Because of all the benefits associated with expanding your marketing knowledge and how doing this has impacted my business for the better over the years, I have created a mentorship specifically to develop your marketing skills!

If I had a cheat sheet, like this mentorship, years ago that broke everything that I needed to know down into simple terms, it would have saved me years of time, worry and stress.

If you're interested in being the first to know all of the details when this mentorship drops,  send me a message. Trust me you're not going to want to miss out on this value-packed, business-transforming mentorship.
